noob question: how and when do i use the salvage skill?????

Well you start by finding an area to salvage. Usually it will be surrounded with wood and on our Navi, show up as an orange dot.
Then you just double click the skill and click around the ocean.

salvage is generally goods you take onto your boat. same kind of things you would buy from a merchant. (and youll have to sell it back to a merchant to get nay profit from it) so in that sense its purly a profit skill, and quite usefull if you can find the wrecks. that part can be hard though, i belive theres a guide somewhere here with coordinates, but youd have to do a search..  i know there is some good salvage south of shaitan, and north of thundoria, but other then that, i dont do much anymore.
